FRP guardrails are composite material guardrails made of glass fiber reinforced plastic, featuring numerous excellent properties and being widely used in various fields.
Production process
Pultrusion is usually adopted. The glass fiber roving without twisting is mixed with resin and continuously pultruded through a mold. After heating and curing, profiles with certain shapes and sizes are formed, and then assembled according to the design requirements.
Performance characteristics
Lightweight and high strength: Its specific gravity is approximately one fourth of that of steel, making it light in weight, easy to handle and install. Meanwhile, its tensile and bending strength can reach over 600MPa, and its fatigue resistance is about 50 times that of steel. It is highly strong and impact-resistant, and can easily recover after being impacted.
Corrosion resistance: It has excellent corrosion resistance and can be used for a long time in strong acid and strong alkali environments such as 10% sulfuric acid, 20% nitric acid, and 50% acetic acid without being affected. It does not rust or corrode and requires no paint maintenance.
Good insulation: It is an excellent insulator with superior electrical insulation performance, free of magnetism and electric sparks. It can be used in areas with electrical conduction hazards, equipment sensitive to magnetism, and flammable and explosive sites.
Excellent weather resistance: It does not oxidize or rust in a humid and hot state, and is not prone to fading. After adding ultraviolet absorbers, it can effectively resist ultraviolet rays and can be used outdoors for a long time without daily care.
Diverse colors: It can be mixed with various colors as needed, with soft tones, no reflective pollution, and a certain warning effect, such as the common red and white alternating fiberglass reinforced plastic guardrails.
Specification and size: Common specifications include 0.8m×1.6m, 0.8m×1.8m, 1m×1.5m, etc. The height of 1.2 meters is the most common. Different sizes can also be customized according to actual needs.
Application field
It is widely applied in petrochemical, sewage treatment, thermal power generation, transportation roads, riverbanks, lakesides, courtyards, villa communities, fences, gardens and other places. It is also often used in areas such as electrical equipment maintenance, electrical experiments and distribution maintenance in power plants and substations, playing a role in safety protection and isolation.
